Nippon Steel Pipe Co. Ltd (NPV) started shipping special coated steel pipe pile to Kenya.
Application of Heavy-Duty Coated 「NS-PAC」 of Japanese technology
Nippon Steel Pipe Vietnam Co., Ltd (NPV), a subsidiary company of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has just delivered the first shipment of Heavy-Duty Coated steel pipe piles for the construction of container terminal project in Mombasa port, Kenya which is under construction by Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. This is super-long construction material with a length of up to 50 meters produced in Vietnam in accordance with requirement Toyo construction who desires to be able to shorten the construction schedule. NPV has cooperated with Metal One Corporation to win the supply contract with total ordered quantity up to over 5000 tons, half of which has already delivered in late November 2012, and the remain shipment will be also delivered within this year.
Mombasa port is carried out with loan of Japanese government via the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and required high Japanese technology of port construction. The unique method of Heavy-Duty Coated 「NS-PAC」has been suggested by NSSMC to be applied for portion of product where it will be protected from a serious corrosive environment. In addition, by supplying this kind of super-long piles as customer’s desire, it is expected that we can help to reduce significantly implementation cost, which makes the company be highly appreciated for the technical capabilities and competence of production.
NPV, established in June 2010, is a joint venture invested by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation 51%, Vietnam Steel Corporation 10％, Metal One Corporation 20％, and each of the following company Sumitomo Corporation, Hanwa Co., Ltd, Marubeni Itochu Steel Inc., and Nippon Steel Trading Co., Ltd 4.75%. The factory has started production since May 2011 and continued keeping the business driving smoothly up to now with 135 employees.
Besides Vietnam domestic market, NPV has also developed high technology competence to be able to meet requirements of oversea projects. The company has been retaining the production capacity of from 4000 to 5000 tons per month since late Feb this year. Moreover, NPV has already got the certificate of JIS and ISO 9001 in Jan 2012 as well as the certificate of ISO 14001 in Oct 2012. We are not only highly appreciated for excellent production and quality management system but also for good delivery.
NPV will continue keeping close cooperation with NSSMC and trading companies to expand its target market not only Vietnam but also priority civil projects in the countries of the Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN) and developing energy project in Australia.
